Breitling Chrono Colt Watch

The Breitling Chorno Colt Watch is a Breitling watch from the Colt range of products known for their precision and durability; meaning shock resistance, lateral crown reinforcements, protective push-piece rings, and 20 bars of water resistant. When Breitling designed the Chrono Colt they wanted a watch that could really extend wear and tear while staying strong and reliable.

My favorite feature of the Breitling Chrono Colt watch is not only its ability to deal with short times nearly 1/10th of a second with split times; but also its ability to change time zones so quickly while not changing one second or minute on the dial. To make a Breitling watch like the Breitling Chrono Colt watch, technology and innovation had to work seamlessly together in the Breitling factories and workshops. As a result of the dedication, the Breitling Chrono Colt watch boast some decent technical specifications.

The Breitling Chrono Colt has a Breitling 73 Caliber SuperQuartz movement with a fast-action time zone change (like I described above), and a thermo-compensated quartz electronic movement. The Breitling chronograph can measure up to 1/10th of a second (60 min, 12 hours) with split times. This Breitling watch has a 41.10 mm steel case diameter with a dial aperture calendar, unidirectional and ratcheted bezel, screwed in caseback, and a screw-locked crown.

Finishing off the look of the Breitling watch is your choice of either a Breitling Professional Bracelet in steel or a Breitling leather strap in blue, black, gold, or brown; a Breitling Diver Pro Strap in blue or black; or a Breitling Ocean Racer strap in black or blue.

Breitling Superocean Heritage 38 Watch

Yesterday we talked about the Breitling Superocean Heritage 46 watch, and today we were supposed to explore the differences between the Breitling Superocean Heritage 46 and the Breitling Superocean Heritage 38. However, the only obvious differences between the Breitling Superocean Heritage 46 and the Breitling Superocean Heritage 38 are the case sizes. The Breitling Superocean Heritage 46 has a 46 mm case diameter and the 38 has a 38 mm case diameter.

Technical Data:

Breitling 27 Caliber
Cambered sapphire and glareproofed crystal
Screwed in caseback
Screw locked crown with two gaskets
Self-winding mechanical movement
Minimum 42 hour power reserve
Unidirectional and ratcheted bezel
28,800 vibrations per hour
660 feet of water resistance
27 jewels
Steel case
Dial aperture calendar
Ocean Classic bracelet in steel or Ocean Racer Straps in black, blue, or red

Breitling Superocean Heritage 46 Watch

Breitling’s Superocean Heritage 46 watch from Breitling’s Aeromarine Collection known for a few things. It’s known for its 660 foot water resistance, its known for its 1950 style logo, and its known for its weird and quirky minute hand. All reasons why a Breitling watch has a coveted and almost cult like following. Design and luxury have no limit when a Breitling watch is created and the Superocean Heritage 46, available in two sizes, 38 mm and 46 mm, is no exception.

Even though the Breitling Superocean Heritage 46 is based on celebrating past Breitling Superocean watches, some features are updated including a steel and aluminum construction fitted bezel with a 120 tooth unidirectional mechanism instead of a synthetic bezel; and instead of the old school mineral glass, the Breitling Superocean Heritage 46 uses scratch resistance and glareproofed sapphire crystal on both case sides.

As with every Breitling watch, the Breitling Superocean Heritage 46 boast a Breitling 17 caliber, self winding mechanical movement, 40 hour minimum power reserve, 28,800 vibrations per hour, 25 jewels, dial aperture calendar, steel case, screw-locked crown with two gaskets, and a screwed in caseback.

The picture above shows my favorite Superocean Heritage 46 watch complete with self-winding movement, a steel case, black dial, and Ocean Classic bracelet in steel. The Ocean Classic bracelet in steel is by far the best bracelet for a Superocean Heritage 46 watch. It’s sleek and smooth with an intricate braided pattern and distinct design. Of course you can try the Ocean Racer strap in black, blue or red, but to me it just doesn’t do justice to the watch case.

Breitling Superocean Steelfish

We discussed yesterday, and many times before, that in 1950 Breitling made the bold decision to start focusing on the maritime industry as well as the aviation industry. As a result, The Breitling Superocean watches were born. Out of all the Superocean watches discussed here, the Breitling Superocean Steelfish has my favorite dial design. I love the luminescent dots as hour markers which are complemented by Arabic second numerals, I love the Superocean signature, I love the Arabic numerals for the 12, 6, and 9 o’clock markers, and I love the different versions and variations of materials and colors.

However, the most important attribute of a diver’s watch is its water resistance and the Breitling Superocean Steelfish series of watches are watcher resistance of up to depths of not 500, not 1,500, not 2,000, but 6,000 feet! That’s an amazing level of water resistance and its possible because of the workmanship used to seal the watch. Sealing a watch is an art form and Breitling pulled out all the stops with the Breitling Superocean Steelfish watch. Each watch in the Breitling Steelfish series has a security valve that is used to balance out and difference of pressure in and outside the case. Breitling gives a great description of this technology:

“…as soon as the internal overpressure reaches approximately 3 bars, this valve automatically vents the helium accumulated during the time spent at great depths and thus prevents the case from exploding…”

Other technical specifications of this watch include a Breitling 17 caliber and self-winding mechanical movement, a minimum 40 hour power reserve, 28,800 vibrations per hour, 25 jewels, dial aperture calendar at the 3 o’clock marker, ratcheted and unidirectional bezel, crew locked crown with 2 gaskets, and a screwed in caseback that is glare proofed with sapphire crystal; as is the case front.

The Breitling Superocean Steelfish is available in a number of bracelets and straps as well as dial colors. Here is a quick look at a video that show the Breitling Superocean Steelfish with blue dial and leather strap:

The Breitling Avenger Skyland

The Breitling Avenger Skyland is a mean and lean Breitling timepiece.  It’s rugged and sleek incorporating a screw-locked crown that is protected by crown guards, push piece reinforcements, and thick glareproofed sapphire crystal. Not only is this Breitling watch water resistance to 300 meters, but it is also shockproof!  However, watch enthusiast love this watch for its unorthodox look that helps it stand out from other Breitling watches.  This bad boy has stenciled dial numerals that date back to the Breitling Avenger’s original model.

However, let us look even closer into the Breitling Avenger Skyland.  Underneath the hood you’ll find a Breitling 13 Caliber with a self winding mechanical movement and a 42 hour power reserve.  The movement of this Breitling watch also does 28,800 vibrations per hour with 25 jewels and a powerful Breitling chronograph (1/4th second, 30 minutes, 12 hours). With a steel case and dial aperture calendar, the 45.40 mm diameter Breitling Avenger Skyland has a unidirectional yet ratched bezel, a screw locked crown with two gaskets, and a screwed in caseback.

There are numerous versions of the Breitling Avenger Skyland including steel with a black dial and professional bracelet in steel, steel with a black dial with a diver pro strap and tang-type buckle, steel with a blue dial and leather strap with tang-type buckle, steel with a slate gray dial and professional bracelet in steel, steel with a blue dial and professional bracelet in steel, steel with a slate gray dial and a leather strap with a tang-type buckle… well you get the picture, lots and lots of versions and possibilities for ultimate color customization.

To leave you, here is an image of a happy customer unlocking their Breilting Avenger Skylander… at one point in the video, after no talking, he states “its my dream come true man”:

Breitling Co-Pilot Watch

Breitling watches began with an obsession with aviation, that’s why aviation industry professionals all wear Breitling watches. That’s also why receiving a Breitling watch in the aviation industry is not only pledging your passion, but marks a time in your life where you dreams have come true. One watch that embodies those ideals is the Breitling Co-Pilot watch by providing aviation professionals and Breitling watch enthusiast an electronical watch that seamlessly juggles local time and flight times in one easy motion. The Breitling Co-Pilot is able to do this because it is designed with four separate display modes in order to allow pilots and professionals the option of switching easily between important timing statistics; the four modes on the Breitling watch include local time, chronograph, take-off time, and landing time.

When looking at the technical specifications of the Breitling co-pilot, it’s no wonder that the timing technology is possible.  The Breitling Co-Pilot watch has a Breitling 80 caliber and a Quartz electronic movement with a min. and sec (59min.59sec, then hrs/min., max) chronograph.  The Breitling watch case, depending on the wearer’s preference, comes in steel or titanium with a screwed in back allowing the Breitling Co-Pilot to sustain 100 m under water.

At 22 by 27.10 mm in diameter, the Breitling Co-Pilot also has sapphire glareproofed crystal on both sides to increase readability while flying on a clear and sunny day.

Breitling Cockpit Lady Watch

Branded as Breitling’s “feminine version of time” the Breitling Cockpit Lady Watch holds technical specifications that allow it to play with the big boys.  We’ve talked about this Breitling watch at the Breitling Watch Blog before, but we haven’t really gone deep into the watch’s technical background.

When Breitling designed the Breitling Cockpit Lady watch for the Breitling Windrider Collection, balance was a large aspect of the planning.  Breitling wanted a women’s watch that was able to perform yet look elegant and remain reliable.  Even though they made it look easy, sometimes designing a women’s watch with all the techs of a bulky man’s watch is not easy. Every aspect of the Breitling watch screams femininity, sleekness, and variety by using dial colors, straps, bracelets, and materials.

Breitling Cockpit Lady Watch Technical Specifications
The Breitling Cockpit Lady Watch includes a Breitling 71 caliber, SuperQuartz movement, EOL indicator, and a thermo-compensated quartz electronic movement.  The calendar of the Breitling watch is a dial aperture and the case of the Breitling Cockpit Lady includes a variety of materials including steel, two-tone, steel & gold, or 18k rose gold.  The Breitling cockpit Lady Watch includes 100 m of water resistance paired with an un-directional yet ratcheted bezel and a non screw-locked crown with three gaskets.  Measuring at a petite 31.80 mm in diameter, the Breitling Lady Cockpit has a screwed in back and cambered glareproofed sapphire crystal on both sides.

As with the variety of cases, the straps and bracelets come in a variety of colors as well.  First is the Breitling Pilot Bracelet, which similar to the cases, come in steel, two-tone, or 18k rose gold.  If a strap is chosen, the wearer has the choice of pairing the Breitling Cockpit Lady watch with either a leather strap in blue, black, gold or brown; a crocodile strap in either black or gold; a lizard strap in either yellow, brown, green, red, blue, black, orange, pink or navy blue; or a Diver Pro strap in either blue or black.

Breilting for Bentley Mark VI Complications 29 Watch

In the past we have discussed two watches in Breitling for Bentley Serie Mark VI collections; Breitling for Bentley Mark VI Watch and the Breitling for Bentley Mark VI Complications 19 Watch. Today we will take a closer look at the Mark VI Complications 29.

Breitling for Bentley’s Mark VI Complications 29 watch comes in either rose gold or platinum and is made up of approximately 500 parts. The calendar on this Breitling watch is its best feature and it is programmed to feature the date, day, week, month, season, and moon phases while being sensitive to the various leap years. Only 250 watches were made of the Breitling for Bentley Mark VI Complication 29 Rose Gold Watches and only 100 were made of the platinum.

Breitling World Time Application

As discussed last week, Breitling launched a Breitling World Time Application with their new website design. The Breitling World Time application is a “computing instrument that measures units or currencies that easily solve time-related calculation”.

Here is a detailed account of my adventures with the Breitling World Time Application.

Last week the Breitling World Time application caught my eye so I downloaded it from the web site to see exactly what it was and how I could use it.

After downloading I extracted the Breitling World Time application to my desktop.

After extracting I located the setup file and installed the applications to my hard rive.

Next I opened up the application and started exploring! Here’s a breakdown of the features (click on image for larger view):

Here’s an even closer look at some of the features:

The Rarest Breitling Navitimer Watch

Image from Navitimer.net

According to Breitling Navitimer “rules” every Breitling Navitimer watch has to have a standard movement, however the Navitimer 806 with Valjoux 72 movement has a non-standard movement. Why has Breitling decided to create this watch? Maybe it’s to make collectors lose their minds with envy with just the mention of it.

This mysterious and elusive Breitling watch was created in the early 1950’s. It was named the Navitimer 806 because it’s identical to an earlier Navitimer 806 with a standard movement. However, collectors and enthusiast were surprised to open it and find a Valjoux 72 movement.

According to Jean-Micheal, creator of www.navitimer.net:

We even do not know that if the watch had the reference 806 ! Some of the pictures I have of this watch do not show the “806″ engraving on the back. The only country where I have regularly seen some Valjoux 72 806 is Japan. Japanese are very well informed collectors and the prices of vintage pieces are very high, that perhaps explain why it is possible to find some there….No idea of the number produced, but this was not limited to few pieces, some thousands might have been produced.”

Definitely an interesting story of the Breitling Navitimer!
